Background Matilda Plains is an exciting new range from the Bremerton stable. Bremerton is a small family owned winery in the prestigious Langhorne Creek region of South Australia. Matilda Plains provides modern, unique, and delicious wines. The distinctive label features the Willson family’s much loved border collie Matilda (or ‘Tilly’ for short) helping in the vineyard. Both wines have been made by winemaker and family member Rebecca Willson. There are two wines in the Matilda Plains range, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc and a delicious full flavored Cabernet Shiraz Merlot blend. The Sauvignon Blanc has been made from fruit grown in Langhorne Creek as well as fruit from the neighboring Currency Creek region and has captured the true characteristics of this aromatic variety. The red blend was made from all estate grown fruit from Langhorne Creek where Cabernet, Shiraz and Merlot have traditionally been grown for over 100 years. Both wines are of excellent quality and offer exceptional value for money. Matilda Plains is also the new winemaking base for all Bremerton wines. It is a new grape crushing and winemaking facility specializing in small batch processing to ensure the Bremerton and Matilda Plains wines continue to be hand crafted with full attention to detail and quality control. Matilda Plains, the winery and the label capture the free open Australian spirit and are a further step forward in the overall development and progress of Bremerton.
