2006 Verdejo

Background

Talking about the Denomination of Origin Rueda means reiterating the quality of the best white wines in Spain. This is something that shouldn’t surprise, as these wines were already served at the Court of King Felipe III in Valladolid at the end of the 16th Century, who passed a decree to prevent the fraud of his preferred white wines. King Carlos III personally authorized the export of the famous Rueda wines to London in the middle of the 18th century. The origin of the Verdejo variety in the region goes back to the time when the Mozarabs due to their seasonal migration came to Castilla y León where they settled. For three generations the owners of María Jesús de la Hoz Monsalve have dedicated their lives to the cultivation of vines since the last century. They own more than 100 hectares of vineyards throughout the municipal area of Rueda, in the heart of the "Denomination of Origin Rueda".

The name Trascampanas when translated into English means 'behind the bell'. The family owns a Tapas bar in the main street of the town of Rueda and the bar is located behind the bell tower of one of the lovely churches in the region.
